Our Vision, Our Mission

Our Core Values

C O M P A S S I O N
'Be compassionate as your heavenly Father is compassionate.' Luke 6:36 Victoire Larmenier showed compassion by seeking to relieve the suffering of those she came into contact with. Being open and attentive to the whole person, spiritually, physically and emotionally, we show empathy for the suffering of others and try to relieve that suffering.

RECYCLE REWARDS
Our bins are set up and ready to go!
We are participating in Tasmania's Recycle Rewards program. We have two bins at school for students and families to drop off can/plastics bottles etc for recycling and to raise money. We won't be raising money for ourselves but rather St Vincent de Pauls.
Each fortnight, Paul, our Utility Officer and Phil, our community volunteer, will take them to a recycling centre and the money will be directly donated to Vinnies. Students will then be informed at assembly that week of how much they have recycled and how much they have donated to Vinnies.
The bins are located near breakfast club.
Click on the website link below if you would like to find out more about the Recycle Rewards program.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT.......
Parent Engagement Opportunities.
We have a school disco coming up on the 3rd July. The P and F would welcome people to help organise the event or help out on the night. Please send an email to pandf.lcs@catholic.tas.edu.au or come along to the next P and F Meeting which is on Thursday 12th June at 7 pm in the meeting room (just come to the front office).
PARENT LINK
Parent Link is an ongoing feature of the newsletter. It is an opportunity to identify areas or features of the school that you want to know more about, ask a question or put forward suggestions. These items can then be addressed and answered in the fortnightly newsletter in the ‘Tell Me More About’ section.
This is an opportunity to have a say every day......not just in a once-a-year parent survey.
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know, as part of our PBS work (Positive Behaviour Support), our new signs have been installed in the playground to help students know the expectations on the playground equipment?

Kind regards,

In Grade 1.....
Last week we celebrated and learnt about two special times in our year. The first was Reconciliation Week where we had Tank come in and talk to us about the difference between an Acknowledgement of Country and a Welcome to Country.
We reflected on the history of the relationship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community. We wrote in handprints why it is important to work together and what we can do at school to make sure we treat everybody equally and fairly.
We also learnt about Laudato Si' which translates to "Praise Be To You" and is a letter from Pope Francis urging everyone to protect our planet, the Earth, which he calls our common home. We wrote and illustrated one action we can take towards this

Art Challenge
We had some very creative entries in our recent Art Challenge, which was held in conjunction with the National Simultaneous Storytime.
Congratulations to everyone that entered, and to our prize winners Siatana Lacangan, Tallow Slingsby, Sophie Allford, and Violet Clifford.

Tasmanian Premier's Reading Challenge
The Challenge will run for 10 weeks from the 16th June until the 24th August.
All students from Kinder to Year 6 are invited to participate. Participation is not compulsory.
Students can include home readers, books read to them at home, magazines, eBooks etc., as well as any books that they read themselves.
A Reading Log, bookmark and stickers will be sent home with all students this week.
Story Box Library - have you accessed it?

WWVP Reminder
WWVP
All people wishing to volunteer at school, including Farm Days, MUST have their WWVP (or alternatively known as RWVP) - this includes parents and grandparents! There is no cost for a volunteer application and you never know when you might want to put your hand up to volunteer at school so why not put in an application now so that you are ready to go when the occasion presents itself!
A reminder that when arriving at the office for Farm Days etc, you are required to present your WWVP card.
