Principal's Message

Reflection

Gospel Value - Patience

Victoire Larmenier was an example of patience to all who knew her. She encountered and overcame amazing difficulties.

Blessed are the gentle for they shall possess the earth. (Matt 5:5).

In all circumstances we persevere calmly with understanding and endurance.

Learning conferences

We had our Parent/Teacher conferences during the week with a high number of bookings made. Thank you to all the parents and carers who spent valuable time with teachers discussing their child/ren’s learning progress. Also, a big thank you to the teachers for their out-of-hours time with conducting the meetings as well as all the time and effort that goes into preparing for them.

Kinder Enrolments and Interviews

Kinder Enrolments are coming in and I have begun Kinder Interviews. If you have a Kinder child for 2024 or know of someone who may be interested in attending Larmenier in 2024, please contact the office. As we are a single stream school, spaces are limited.

CET Support Personnel

We are very lucky to be part of a Catholic system where we have a personnel infrastructure that provides high quality support to staff and students proactively and on a needs basis. We have a number of Catholic Education Tasmania staff who are working with us closely and on a regular basis.

CET WHS Officer - Katie Gardner. Katie helps us to ensure we are providing a safe working and learning environment.

CET Student Support Leader - Richard Wassom. Rich helps and supports us with programs and strategies for students with disabilities.

CET Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Officer - Fiona Labuschagne. Fiona helps and supports students and staff with Posivitive Behaviour Support and wellbeing.

Teaching Matters Conference

Ms Hughes, Mrs Knowles and myself will be attending the Teaching Matters Conference Monday and Tuesday next week as part of our professional learning for our implementation of Catholic Education Tasmania’s Insight into Learning Project. The Project is based on the science of learning which focuses on best practice in teaching and learning with the key aim of enhancing achievement for all students. Larmenier Catholic School is one of the schools in the first wave of implementation in Catholic Education Tasmania.

Grade 4 Farm Day

On Friday 17th which just happened to be St Patricks Day.  We did a treasure hunt which involved finding pictures of leprechauns, horse shoes and other things which were hidden on the farm.  Some of us were lucky to find a real four leaf clover!

We conducted Science experiments which involved forces.  We made a balloon rocket which used the force of pushing.  The air from the balloon allowed it to push forward along the string to make it move.

In cooking we made apple and rhubarb Danishes and green cookies.  We made Irish Tacos for lunch and played Irish music while we ate.  They were delicious.  The afternoon ended with us having a green peppermint milkshake.

Since we have kids in the form of baby goats, we were happy to feed them and play with them.

We had a really fun day.
