Our Core Values

R E S P E C T
As often as you did it to one of these...you did it to me. (Matt 25:40)
Victoire Larmenier showed consideration, appreciation and regard for the rights, values and beliefs of all. The unique dignity of each person is held in high esteem and with special consideration. Without exception, we show thoughtfulness, courtesy and care.
From the Principal...
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
Did you know that family engagement with school affects student achievement?
Well, it does - there was significant time allocated to this topic at the recent conference I attended. It was very interesting and thought-provoking. So a question for us to reflect on is ‘What is our level of family engagement with the school?’ and particularly for the school ‘How do we actively engage with families in a real and purposeful manner, not just events?’
Do you have some thoughts about this? Please click on the link below and add them to the Parent Link Google form.

ROAD SAFETY
RACT Road Safety visited with K - Yr 4 classes and stressed the importance of using designated crossings to cross roads and carparks safely.
Please help your children put this learning into practice by using the crossing yourself and also with your child.
We want children in the habit of using the crossing so that even when you are not there it will be a natural behaviour for them to go to the crossing, not just here at school but in the 'big wide world!'
Please pass this message onto other family members who pick up your child. We all need to be using designated the crossing.

NATURE PLAY SPACE
We have finished stage 1 of our upgrades to our Nature Play Space (aka old Kinder play area). See below for details and photos. There is more to do in this play space and students are being consulted for their ideas for nature play. If you have any ideas for this space, please indicate them through the Parent Link option below.
PBS - CLASS ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Congratulations to Year 3 who, through their combined efforts at following the school expectations of Be Respectful Be Responsible Be Compassionate, have all achieved 250 stickers! They now get to select from one of the options below as an acknowledgement and celebration of them being respectful, responsible and compassionate Larmenier students.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE PLACE?
- NEW SLIDE AND UPGRADE IN NATURE PLAY SPACE
The new slide has been installed. The new sandpit, monkey bars and soft fall around the boat in the Nature Play Space are also all finished. They are all a big hit!

TELL ME MORE ABOUT.......
UNIFORM INFRINGEMENTS
The below is a query from a parent -
Thank you for providing the uniform protocol. This is a hot topic in my home as I am strict on uniform. It makes it hard when other children are seen regularly with other coloured hair items, black leggings under skorts and in items not in line with the uniform. What is done about this from a school perspective to enforce the uniform?
All students are required to wear the appropriate uniform unless by agreement with the Principal or Deputy Principal. Whilst we were in the process of updating the Uniform Protocol and as part of our P.E uniform transition, some leeway has been given. For example, black leggings were acceptable with the royal blue skorts as royal blue leggings were not available.
Now that we have moved to navy blue skorts the expectation is that navy blue leggings are worn, if needed; however, the preference is for students to wear the navy blue tracksuit pants in cold weather.
Please note, we take an inclusive approach so on occasion there may be a couple of students wearing something different and not strictly following the uniform protocol but this is by agreement with all parties involved.
In a nutshell, parents are informed of the Uniform Protocol via the newsletter and are expected to dress children appropriately. If wearing the incorrect uniform, students will be given a gentle reminder about it. If the incorrect uniform continues to be worn, communication about it will be made to the family. Follow-up from there by the Principal will occur as needed.
PARENT LINK
Parent Link is an ongoing feature of the newsletter. It is an opportunity to identify areas or features of the school that you want to know more about, ask a question or put forward suggestions. These items can then be addressed and answered in the fortnightly newsletter in the ‘Tell Me More About’ section.
This is an opportunity to have a say every day......not just in a once-a-year parent survey.

In Year 5 this week .......
In Grade 5 Science we have been learning about Adaptation.
What is Adaptation?
Animals and plants live in all kinds of environments – from hot deserts to icy mountains! To survive in these places, living things have special features or behaviours that help them. These are called adaptations. For example, camels have long eyelashes to keep sand out of their eyes, and cacti store water to survive in dry areas. Adaptations help living things find food, stay safe, and cope with the weather where they live. By learning about adaptations, we can understand how amazing nature is – and how living things are perfectly suited to their habitats.
Our art work shows adaptation, can you spot our turtles?

Wellbeing Group
Mrs Carroll and the Pastoral Care & Wellbeing group had lots of fun making penguins. The penguins turned out bright, cheerful, and full of personality – just like the students who made them.

Student Achievement
Iziah was a winner in a National Family Week art competition. He was required to enter a piece of artwork he had done (he chose one he had done at school) and to also write about the importance of family. Well done Iziah!

Practice lockdown
In the coming weeks, we will conduct an unannounced emergency drill to assess our response to a potential situation where staff may identify a threat that would require the school to go into lockdown, as opposed to evacuating.
Just like fire drills, we understand the importance of practising this process to ensure readiness in case of an emergency.
We are taking steps to ensure that this drill will be as minimally disruptive as possible for both staff and students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Safety Officer, Kirsten Seymour, at 0447480963.

R U OK? Day - Wear Yellow
R U OK? is a charity with a mission to get everyone having more conversations to check in with each other to see how they’re doing. It’s about what we can all do to help our friends, classmates and family to get through tough times.
R U OK? Day’s National Day of Action is on Thursday 11th September. We will be raising awareness on this day and be learning about the importance of asking R U OK? Any Day of the Year, because a conversation could change a life.
Students are encouraged to wear yellow (clothing/accessories) on Thursday 11th September. This is a PE lesson day so students need to wear their sports shoes and clothing suitable for physical activity.
