What's Happening in Kinder ...
In Kinder this week we have made Pizza in small groups.
Students worked together to measure the ingredients, mix them together, and then knead them into a dough. The dough was flattened out and then topped with pizza sauce and grated cheese.
Grade 5 Camp
On Tuesday and Wednesday Grade 5 had school camp and here is everything we did!
We were all still yawning and trying to get the sleep out of our eyes. School wouldn't have opened for another 2 hours, classmate after classmate were showing up. 6:30am we were leaving the school's driveway. Everyone was excitedly sitting down on the bus and off we went.
Most of us were trying to get some sleep. I don't think we were very successful. The first stop we made was at Campbell Town. We went to the park with the big log and rest rooms. At the park we got to eat our first snack and play on the equipment. Then we took off again. This would be our longest ride so far. We drove and drove and drove but we finally made it to Hobart. We excitedly bounced up and down in our seats but we still had a lot more excitement ahead of us. About an hour later we made it to Snug. 10 minutes go by and we arrived at the caravan park and we got off the bus to eat our other snack on the beach.
After that we headed to the Marine Discovery Centre in Woodbridge. My group went on the boat first and we talked about some safety issues. After the boat left the jetty we were free to roam around the boat. Chole took a cage thingy and put it on the bottom of the bank. We all had to sit down at this point. She waited until it was full. And then she pulled it back up and it was full of sea life. We picked around with these little tongs and little spoons. We found a couple of crabs and a small red shrimp.
After all of that we put them all back into the water and started to go back everyone got a turn to drive the boat it was so fun! After we got back on the jetty we ran back to the Centre for a 30 minute lunch break, haha that sounds funny! Sorry about that. After lunch it was time to swap with the other group. The first thing Andrew said to do was get a clipboard and a checklist, we went around the tanks looking for the stuff on the checklist. After that we put all of the clipboards back and we were allowed to touch the sharks but only on the back. We were also allowed to touch the skates but on the sides and the top of the head. After that we went into the touch tank room and we could touch absolutely everything in there.
I was a little bit scared to touch some stuff because it looked a little bit funny. After that we went into Andrew's classroom to do some fun stuff. Lachlan Felicity and I started at the microscopes and we saw some really yucky stuff. After that we switched to the V.R headsets. They were 360 degrees and it made you feel like you were going to fall. We went to the 3D glasses after and looked at some pictures that Andrew had. They were about adaptations we drew stuff that have the adaptation to glow in the dark in the twilight area of the ocean. After we drew the pictures we went into the touch tank room with the lights off and we held blue light touches and looked at our pictures and the animals. The Hermit Crabs pinchers turned bright neon green. Next we made badges. They started off as pieces of paper and stuff I can’t explain. When we finished them we drove a submarine that was actually in the water and we got two minutes to drive that.
After everyone came back we got to feed the sharks and skates. Andrew gave us pieces of squid and the sharks and skates.
After all of that we went back to the caravan park and sorted out all of the cabins. Amelia, Sayo, Claudia and I were in our cabin. After we had settled into our cabins. We started getting ready for the AMAZING RACE! We had to do fun challenges to complete the race. It was super fun. The thing that really really really slowed our group down was the sand castles but you know what they say slowest wins the race YAY……. After the race we got soft drinks and lollipops. After we finished, we were all scattered around places like the park, the tennis court and the beach while we waited for dinner. I started off at the park. It was so fun there were flying foxes and a bird's nest. After all of that we went to the beach and the tennis court. Then the sausages were ready yummy!!! I had onions and tomato sauce on mine. After dinner we had a shower and got in our pajamas. We watched TV and talked until curfew aka 10:00 pm.
In the morning Ms Rice came into my cabin and woke us all up. We all got ready and had an egg and bacon roll so good! After breakfast we headed off to ZooDoo and we saw so many amazing things! The first thing we saw was the monkeys and some of the birds. There was this one type of monkey that was just so cute❤️! Then we headed to the church where we saw Miss Lawless. We went to Richmond Bakery for lunch and then the bit we were all looking forward to, the chance to spend our money at the Lolly Shop. Then we made our way home.
