Principal's Message
School Gospel Value - Respect
Victoire Larmenier showed consideration, appreciation and regard for the rights, values and beliefs of all.
As often as you did it to one of these….you did it to me. (Matt 25:40)
The unique dignity of each person is held in high esteem and with special consideration. Without exception, we show thoughtfulness, courtesy and care.
SCHOOL COUNSELLOR
Please join me in congratulating our school counsellor, Emily, on becoming a psychologist and gaining employment with Catholic Care in this position. We have been blessed to have Emily working with our students and families. She has shown professionalism with care and kindness. We wish her all the very best in this new position. Catholic Care is undertaking a recruitment process for a new school counsellor and we will inform you when this process is finalised.
ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER HERITAGE
If you are a First Nations person, with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage, please consider sharing this with us. You can contact the office or me directly. We are looking to expand our knowledge and awareness in this space across the school and this means we will be providing additional opportunities for students with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage to be part of cultural knowledge and awareness activities.
END-OF-YEAR REPORTS
The end-of-year reports are summative reports giving an overall grade for each key learning area. They will be published in Compass on Monday 11th December at 3.00pm. Please ensure your Compass log in details are up to date so that you can access the report. A reminder that examples of your child’s work can be found on Seesaw in your child’s digital portfolio.
PARENT CONSULTATION SURVEY
Thank you to those who participated in the survey that was sent out last week. The responses were overwhelmingly positive which is very affirming of where the school is and is headed. Of course, there is room for improvement and some parents’ responses showed us where that room for improvement is needed most. The responses will provide input from the parent body into the Annual Plan for 2024. The staff will have the opportunity to respond to the same questions as part of an upcoming staff meeting. The Leadership Team will then take all the responses to help formulate the 2024 Annual Plan.
In regards to future opportunities, parent feedback always provides helpful information and insight into what parents value and generally, there is a lot of consensus. Sometimes though, parents have opposing views from each other. This means that there are a number of different directions the school can take based on parent feedback and sometimes not everyone’s ideas can be adopted or actioned.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT….
It is important for us as a school to consider and reflect upon the communication and promotion of what takes place at school. How can we ask parents to give feedback or help plan for the future if we haven’t told them what we do and how we do it? To provide the parent and school community with information that they want to know more about and provide a year-round opportunity to have a say, I have set up a Google Form ‘Parent Link’ which will be an ongoing form and feature of the newsletter. It is an opportunity to identify areas or features of the school that you want to know more about, ask questions or make suggestions. These items can then be addressed and answered in the fortnightly newsletter. Here is the link to the ‘Parent Link’ form - https://forms.gle/vSFFftehzwZrKrhN9
Kind regards
