Grade 5 Excursion
It's Friday morning, and we get to go to Beaconsfield today. Beaconsfield is a place where a
mine collapsed, and it was all over the news. We're at Beaconsfield and we get a piece of paper with animals. If we find them all we get a prize. We get sorted into two groups, one group explores upstairs and the other group downstairs.
I was exploring downstairs and we could communicate with the phones. Then we looked at the mining machines, they were MASSIVE! There were even hay machines. There were lots of rocks and a tunnel underneath. There was a little hole in the tunnel, so I decided to have a look. Then I saw a small area where the miners Todd Russell and Brant Webb were trapped. We read some information about them, and they were trapped for 14 days! We looked at some videos that were taken while it happened, and a man was found dead.
After looking downstairs for a while, we went upstairs. There was a piano that we could play and
there was a quill that they used to write. I even found a diagram of Mowbray and it was tiny.
I looked around and I found a toilet with fake poop inside. There was a little hallway that led to a
different area. We found little figures of man and there was an elevator that you could wind. We
looked at all the old stuff, looked outside and we got to feel how it was in the mines. We used
pans to try to find gold. We had lunch, had a play at the park and off we were back to school.

Charlie & Hugh's Adventures
Charlie and Hugh are loving having students visit with them. They both become VERY vocal once they see and hear you coming to visit them. They are also loving being out in the playground at recess and lunch.
School Photos
School Photo Day is on Tuesday 7th May. Pied Piper has had a bit of a technical issue and we haven't recieved our ordering deatils yet. We will send them out on Compass once we have received them.
Family photos must be orded and paid for 1 week before (April 30th).
Full formal uniform to be worn for Grades 3 - 6, & sports uniform for K - 2.
Pick Up, Parking and Patience
Pick Up - students may only be picked up from the front of the school via our Pick Up Zone or the school car park (at front of school). We have had some Kinder parents driving around the back of the school and Mt Esk. This is not a designated pick up /drop off area and is not a designated space for students.
Parking - Parking is only permitted at the Larmenier car park which are the three rows of car spots that run parallel to our Pick Up Zone. Parking IS NOT PERMITTED in Mt Esk car park or on the grass. This is Mt Esk property.
Patience - We ask for patience during Pick Up and Drop Off periods. We have 229 students that need to be safely dropped off and picked up. Safety is our top priority during these times not speed. Sometimes this means that Drop Off or Pick Up may take a little longer than expected. Please pass these messages onto Grandparents and others who are doing Drop Off and Pick Up as we are finding they are not aware of school processes in this area.

ANZAC Day March
Larmenier Catholic School will be marching in the ANZAC Day march on 25th April and attending the service that follows. Whilst ANZAC Day occurs during the school holidays, we would like to have as many students representing Larmenier as possible.
The Launceston RSL encourages those students that have Service Medals or Replicas, of their Veteran Relatives, to wear them on ANZAC Day. These medals must be worn on the right breast.
We will gather at Coles' car park in Charles Street at 9.30 am before heading to Prince's Square at 9.45 am to get ready for the march. At the conclusion of the service, approx 11.30 am, students can be collected from the cenotaph in Paterson St.
Please click on the link below to indicate if your child/ren will be participating in the ANZAC Day march. Students in K-2 wear sports uniform and students in yrs 3 - 6 wear formal winter uniform.
