From the Principal ...
We have had a busy and productive start to the new school year. Students have been getting to know their teachers and new classroom routines. We are establishing an SRC, Student Representative Council, which is an avenue for the student body to have a voice. Each class has voted in their SRC reps and they have already had their first meeting. Our Mini Vinnie students are already coming up with ideas for them to undertake throughout the year, they are keen and ready to go. Obviously, a stand out is that we have had baby goats being born, from day 1 of the term. Some of the kids are receiving extra special care at the homes of some staff members whilst the rest of the kids are being cared for by their mums. Students are enjoying visiting the kids.
For those that want to know a little bit about me ...
I was born in Launceston, went to Sacred Heart School and SPC. Following that, I went to UTAS for my degree. I then moved to the Whitsundays QLD for 15 years and was part of the St Catherine’s Catholic College community as well as St Mary’s, Bowen and St John Bosco’s at Collinsville. I then sold my house, quit my job and caravanned around Australia before arriving back in Tas where I then worked for the next 7 years at St Thomas More’s Catholic School, Newstead. My two boys are now teenagers and attend SPC. I love to travel, a good coffee and a good book. That’s me in a nutshell!
Thank you to all the staff, parents and students who have made me feel so welcome and part of the Larmenier Community. In visiting classrooms or being out and about in the playground, students have been genuinely welcoming and friendly. I look forward to developing happy and positive relationships with all our students. I also look forward to meeting and getting to know parents and families at our upcoming Meet & Greet Evening - Monday 20th February 5.00 - 6.30pm. I will be located at the BBQ, cooking, not burning sausages hopefully, so please pop by and say hello!
