From The Principal...
School Gospel Value - Patience
Victoire Larmenier was an example of patience to all who knew her. She encountered and overcame amazing difficulties.
Blessed are the gentle for they shall possess the earth. (Matt 5:5)
In all circumstances, we persevere calmly with understanding and endurance.
LARMENIER FEAST DAY
We are celebrating Larmenier Feast Day on Monday 17th June. All parents and carers are invited to our whole school liturgy which will take place in the Nazareth Centre at 9.00 am. A Sausage Sizzle will be provided for all students at lunch time but students will still need to bring a packed lunch to school.
UNIFORM UPDATE
Last year when we sent out a survey about a change from the girl's winter tunic to the skirt, we also provided an opportunity for parents to contribute their thoughts and ideas about the uniform. There was an overwhelming response in favour of introducing a soft shell jacket. The jacket was added to the uniform options not long after and has been a big hit ever since. There was also an overwhelming interest in adding an alternative to the rugby top - which would most likely be a zip up fleecy lined top. We will be pursuing this in the coming weeks along with adding a beanie and modifying the sport's top so that it incorporates the House colour that the student is in, removing the need to have a separate House shirt. The Board will be reviewing the uniform as part of this process and a survey will be sent out to all families in the coming weeks.
NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
We are excited to finally have a climbing frame being added to our playground! It will go in the space between the flying fox and the swings. The excitement is slightly tempered however with the period of time it will take between ordering it and having it installed and operational. None-the-less, it is something to look forward to.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT….
Assessment Scope and Sequence
We have developed a whole school Assessment Scope and Sequence that identifies which standardised assessment tools are being used, at what time of year and with which year levels. It is still in draft form as we navigate what works best and at what time based on our new teaching practice, Science of Learning, which we are now working with. Some of the assessment tools are from our Spelling Mastery (year 3 - 6) and InitiaLit (Prep - year 2) programs whilst others are from reputable publishers and providers e.g. ACER PAT assessments. These standardised assessments are used in conjunction with classroom tasks and tests to provide an overall and on-balance judgement about students' achievements.
PARENT LINK
Parent Link is an ongoing feature of the newsletter. It is an opportunity to identify areas or features of the school that you want to know more about, ask a question or put forward suggestions. These items can then be addressed and answered in the fortnightly newsletter in the ‘Tell Me More About’ section (as above).
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know we are looking to take on more of a permaculture focus with the farm? In a nutshell, the philosophy of permaculture at its most basic level is earth care, people care and fair share.
Kind regards

In Grade 4 This Week ...
Grade 4 have been busy learning new concepts in Maths. Time to the nearest 5 minutes is proving a challenge, but we are loving that! We have started looking at Information Report Writing and trying hard to add sizzling starts into this. Our focus to start was writing down what we already know about an animal then trying to expand our information from that. Once we are finished we will present our information to the rest of the class to give the the information we have learnt.
Assembly
Assemblies are held every fornight (odd weeks) and are hosted by a different class each week. We have had a lot of parents, grandparents etc, coming along, this has been lovely to see! There is a book at the front counter of the office for visitors to sign in quickly when they attend assemblies.
