From the Principal ...
School Gospel Value - Hospitality
Victoire Larmenier welcomed everyone in a spirit of friendship and acceptance.
I was a stranger and you welcomed me. (Matt 25:37)
We welcome and receive all into a warm friendly and open atmosphere.
COMFY CLOTHES DAY
We have a fundraising event coming up next week on Wednesday where students can come to school in comfy clothes and bring in a pantry item to be donated to St Vincent de Paul. The class that brings in the most items wins a prize!
SPORT’S UNIFORM FEEDBACK SURVEY
An email was sent out to all parents and carers on Tuesday 25th June with information about the sport’s uniform proposal and a survey link. As this survey is only for parents and carers, please see your email for the link and when completing the survey, use that email address. This is so we can ensure only parents and carers are completing the survey.
NAIDOC WEEK
Mrs De Wit, our Kinder and A&TSI key teacher, has been busy planning activities for NAIDOC Week which we are celebrating next week. We will have Djuker Hart, our Cultural Practitioner, coming in to work with students as well as a whole school liturgy and Aboriginal story sharing with buddies.
MYSTERY MOVIE NIGHT
Thank you to our P and F who put in so much time and effort to prepare for and facilitate our Mystery Movie night on Thursday night. We greatly appreciate it and are thankful to you for your dedication!
MJR
Mr Smith our year 6 and key MJR teacher, has spent some time in our year 3, 4 and 5 classes this week working with students on some core concepts from the Make Jesus Real program. Year 3 and 4 have explored the notion of ‘You’ve got to give it to get it’ in regards to respect, they are in charge of their attitude (no one else) and how do you make /keep friends. Year 5 and 6 students explored the art of reflection, the ability to make good decisions and being W.E.S.T.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT…
Explicit Teaching Pedagogy
Explicit teaching practices involve teachers clearly showing students what to do and how to do it, rather than having students discover that information themselves. Studies show that students who experience explicit teaching practices make greater learning gains than students who do not experience these practices. This teaching practice is a core element of Catholic Education Tasmania’s Insight Program. Teachers at Larmenier use this practice in our Spelling Mastery and InitiaLit spelling programs, our Daily Reviews in English and Maths as well as in a range of other curriculum areas. What are some of the practices associated with explicit instruction? In a nutshell…….TAPPLE.
PARENT LINK
Parent Link is an ongoing feature of the newsletter. It is an opportunity to identify areas or features of the school that you want to know more about, ask a question or put forward suggestions. These items can then be addressed and answered in the fortnightly newsletter in the ‘Tell Me More About’ section (as above). Click on the link below to indicate what you would like to know more about.
DID YOU KNOW?
Parents are invited to attend our fortnightly assemblies? They are every second week on Friday at 2.20 pm. We are getting lots of parents or grandparents attending, which is great to see. (insert photo)
