From the Principal...
Gospel Value - Patience
Victoire Larmenier was an example of patience to all who knew her. She encountered and overcame amazing difficulties
Blessed are the gentle for they shall possess the earth. (Matt 5:5).
In all circumstances, we persevere calmly with understanding and endurance.
JACK JUMPERS ARE COMING TO LARMENIER!
Some of the Jack Jumper’s team is coming to Larmenier on Tuesday. Students from year 3 - 6 can nominate, via their classroom teacher, if they would like to be in the draw to play against the Jack Jumpers. Students who have self nominated will then be randomly selected and informed on Tuesday morning. Below is an approximate schedule of their visit.
LARMENIER’S RESPONSE TO THE ARCHBISHOP’S CHARTER
His Grace, Most Reverand Archbishop Julian Porteous, endorsed our Response to the Archbishop’s Charter at the recent Catholic Education Week Mass. Our response outlines how we, are currently or in the future, plan to develop our work in the mission of the Catholic Church. Our charter outlines our plans under these four domains - Catholic Identity, Learning, Leadership and Mission.
LARMENIER 'CARE FOR CREATION' TEAM
A key focus for Larmenier, in not only our Response to the Archbishop’s Charter but also our Annual Plan, is sustainability. We are committed to developing a 5-year plan focusing on sustainability at Larmenier which links our duty as Catholics to care for all of creation combined with the philosophy and practices of permaculture - earth care, people, care and fair share. The long-term project requires big-picture thinking as well as a focus on what we can do here and now in the immediate future. If you would like to be part of this project, then please consider joining the ‘Larmenier Care for Creation’ Team. You can express your interest by emailing me at niccola.pearce@catholic.tas.edu.au
You might have knowledge or skills or passion that you can bring to the team!
TELL ME MORE ABOUT…
Explicit Teaching
Explicit teaching is an instructional approach where the teacher provides clear, direct, and systematic instruction to students. It involves breaking down complex skills or concepts into smaller, manageable parts and explicitly explaining each part. In P - 2, our InitiaLit program uses explicit teaching. In years 3 - 6, our Spelling Mastery program uses explicit teaching. We are seeing amazing results from these programs due to this instructional approach! Larmenier teachers also use explicit teaching across all the Key Learning Areas.
PARENT LINK
Parent Link is an ongoing feature of the newsletter. It is an opportunity to identify areas or features of the school that you want to know more about, ask a question or put forward suggestions. These items can then be addressed and answered in the fortnightly newsletter in the ‘Tell Me More About’ section (as above).
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that parents, family members and parishioners are all invied to our class masses that take place each week? They are held in the Mt Esk chapel just next door to the school at 11.30 am each Friday. Come to the school office if you are not sure where to go. The roster for when each class is having mass is below.
Kind regards

In Grade 4 This Week ...
Grade 4 students have been working hard this term. In English we are studying the novel 'Storm Boy.' Students are creating some amazing sentences using descriptive words from the story. We are delving into the hidden messages that the author is trying to give us - re taking care of the environment.
Excitement is building in regards to Camp in Week 10. Information on this will be coming out soon, so keep an eye out for it!
Rainbows
Larmenier will be offering the Rainbows Program which is designed to help students deal with grief or loss experienced in their family life such the loss of a loved one, family separation or other trauma. It helps support emotional healing, develops resilience and fosters communication skills across 12 weekly sessions. All participants plus the Facilitator are bound by confidentiality but each participant can discuss with a parent what they themselves feel or have shared.
