This week in Grade 5....
This term for English we started learning about subordinating conjunctions and how they can link an independent clause to a dependent to make a sentence. Subordinating conjunctions are something called an isawabub. We also started reading a novel called The Last Bear by Hanna Gold. An interesting book about a girl April moving to Bear Island with her dad and meeting a polar bear. It's a very interesting, top read.
In Science we've been learning about how vision works and what light can shine through in science. We learnt that the light comes through our pupil and if you close your eyes for thirty seconds your pupil becomes big and then shrinks back to its normal size. We also learnt that transparent means that you can see through it translucent means that you can slightly see through it and opaque means you can not see through it at all. Which means that light can go through transparent and translucent things but not opaque.
This term in R.E we have been looking at the Bible. The Bible is made up of many books or stories. There are 66 books in the whole bible.
The Bible is made up of 2 parts ,the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is the first section of the Bible, covering the creation of Earth through Noah and the flood, Moses and more, finishing with the Jews being expelled to Babylon. The New Testament is about Jesus' life and death.

2025 Larmenier uniform
Midfords will have some elements of the new P.E uniform available in the coming month. As previously communicated, all the items will not be available all at once. They will arrive into the shop as they are manufactured with some items (e.g. House polo) not being available until mid next year.
We realise that our P.E uniform will be a bit of a 'mish mash' during this transition period. We acknowledge that and accept it as part of playing the 'long game.'
There will be a two-year change over period where we move from our current P.E uniform to our new one. This period can be longer for anyone who needs it to be. During this time either the old or new version of the uniform can be worn.
Please find attached a copy of the updated uniform guide, which also can be found on our website.
Upcoming Event - Colour Run.
All students who want to participate in this fun event, even if they are not fundraising, need to register and create a profile.
