Our Vision, Our Mission

Our Core Values

From the Principal...
A new school year is the time for new beginnings and new opportunities. We are currently re-vamping and re-working our PBS Framework. What is PBS? Positive Behaviour Support. This is the basis for all our classroom and behaviour management processes, strategies and responses.
The primary objective of PBS is to teach students appropriate positive behaviours and where needed, have strategies to improve their behaviour. The focus is to be proactive more so than reactive. At the heart of all effective Positive Behaviour Support is relationships. This of course then needs to be backed up by a range of elements (as below).

Our updated school expectations of Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Compassionate set the standard for what we expect to see at Larmenier Catholic School and what we value. These expectations are grounded and based on our Core values which are based in the traditions of the Sisters of Nazareth, founded by Victoire Larmenier.

We have updated our PBS Matrix to reflect our school expectations and this is used by teachers to teach students what is expected behaviour in various settings around the school. All staff are responsible and accountable for upholding our school expectations. In the coming weeks, we will also have a PBS Walkthrough where the Yr 6 students, as leaders of the school, will show their peers what this looks like, sounds like and feels like.
Below is our PBS Flow Chart and a copy of the full document (which can be accessed by the link) which shows our approach and processes as well as follow up when dealing with inappropriate behaviour.

We still have a number of areas to work on in the PBS space and we are committed to having this as a focus this year. If you would like to know more, then you might like to indicate this through our Parent Link - see below.
SCHOOL/HOME COMMUNICATION
All classroom teachers sent out their weekly timetables via email on Monday as well as Term 1 curriculum overviews. The term overviews are a way of keeping you informed about what your child is learning that term and also providing you with content to use as conversation starters. Instead of asking your child 'what did you do today' or 'what did you learn today' you can now ask 'tell me more about Federation' or 'I see you were learning about addition today, show me what you did.'
Term overviews will come out at the beginning of each term.
PARENT LINK
Parent Link is an ongoing feature of the newsletter. It is an opportunity to identify areas or features of the school that you want to know more about, ask a question or put forward suggestions. These items can then be addressed and answered in the fortnightly newsletter in the ‘Tell Me More About’ section.
This is an opportunity to have a say every day......not just in a once-a-year parent survey.
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know we had a number of works in the school being undertaken over the school holidays? We enlarged our Wellbeing Pygmy Goat enclosure, developed the balcony space for outdoor learning for yrs 3 - 6 and built a walk in bird aviary for Elmo. All of these projects had the specific purpose of enhancing learning opportunities and the wellbeing of our students.

Kind regards,
Niccola Pearce

In grade 6 this week...
Grade 6 started off kind of strange this year (starting on a Friday).
We have started to learn some of the routines of Grade 6 and what is expected of us at different times of the day.
We have been introduced to "before school jobs" which are the things that we do before the learning day starts (these include: putting phones in the class box, getting books that we need for the morning block, organising our ruler pencil and red pen, checking our shoes and uniform so that we look neat and tidy, since we are leaders of the school now, and ensuring that any notes go to the office or the teacher).
We learned that in a typical school day, the morning block is for Literacy, the middle block is for Mathematics and we do integrated studies in the afternoon block.
Compiled from a collection of Grade Six writings.

Please note, a separate form is required for each child.
Once we have established the number of students who would like to participate, we will reach out to parents to advise of teams and team numbers. It is always our preference to enter straight year level teams, however, if required we may need to combined year levels together (3&4 and 5&6) in order to submit a full team.

2025 Larmenier uniform
As we transition to our new P.E uniform, we realise that the uniform will be a bit of a 'mish mash' during this time. We acknowledge that and accept it as part of playing the 'long game.'
There will be a two-year change over period where we move from our current P.E uniform to our new one. This period can be longer for anyone who needs it to be. During this time either the old or new version of the uniform can be worn.
Please find attached a copy of the updated uniform guide, which also can be found on our website.
